About Counselling

What happens in the first counselling session?

Your first session is a gentle space to explore what brings you here, what you’re hoping for, and whether we feel like a good fit. You don’t need to prepare anything. We move at your pace.

How do I know if counselling is right for me?

Counselling may help if you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, disconnected, or wanting to understand yourself more deeply. Many people come when something no longer feels sustainable.

How long does counselling take to work?

Some clients notice shifts within a few sessions; others benefit from longer‑term work. We review progress together so the process feels meaningful and supportive.

What issues can counselling help with?

Anxiety, stress, low mood, loneliness, relationship difficulties, identity questions, burnout, life transitions, and loss of meaning - please see my 'Counselling page@ for more information.

Is online therapy effective?

Yes. Research shows online therapy is as effective as in‑person work for many issues. It also offers flexibility and comfort, especially for busy professionals or parents.

About therapy and coaching for relationships, couples and family members

How do therapy and coaching for relationships, couples and family members work?

We explore communication patterns, emotional needs, conflict cycles, and ways to rebuild connection. Sessions focus on understanding each other rather than assigning blame.

Can couples and relationship therapy save a relationship?

Couples and relationship therapy can help partners repair ruptures, deepen understanding, and make informed choices about the future. Many couples come to strengthen their bond, not only to “fix problems”.

Why do we keep having the same argument?

Repetitive conflicts often come from deeper emotional needs or unspoken fears. Therapy and coaching can help identify the cycle and create new ways of relating.

How do we rebuild trust after betrayal?

Rebuilding trust takes time, honesty, and safety. We work slowly to understand what happened, repair the rupture, and create conditions for trust to grow again.

About coaching

What is the difference between coaching and therapy/counselling?

Therapy focuses on emotional healing and self‑understanding. Coaching focuses on clarity, goals, and forward movement. Both can complement each other depending on your needs.

What can coaching help me with?

Career clarity, confidence, boundaries, work–life balance, decision‑making, and navigating transitions - please see my 'Coaching' page for more information.

How many coaching sessions do I need?

Many clients work in blocks of 4–8 sessions, depending on goals and pace. We tailor the process to what feels most supportive.

About Yoga, Pilates and Mindfulness

How do Yoga, Pilates and mindfulness work together?

Yoga offers grounding and breath‑led movement, Pilates adds stability and strength, and mindfulness supports emotional regulation. Together, they help you reconnect with your body, reduce tension, and build resilience.

Do I need to be flexible or fit to start?

Not at all. Sessions are adapted to your body, comfort, and energy levels. The focus is on awareness and safety, not performance or achieving specific shapes.

Can this approach help with anxiety, stress or overwhelm?

Yes. Breath-work, grounding movement, and mindful pacing can help regulate the nervous system. Many clients find this combination reduces anxiety symptoms and supports emotional balance.

What if mindfulness feels uncomfortable for me?

We go slowly and stay within your window of tolerance. If stillness feels difficult, we use movement‑based or sensory grounding practices instead. You always have choice.

Is this suitable if I have experienced trauma?

Yes. Sessions are trauma‑sensitive and paced gently. You remain in control of what we explore, and we prioritise safety and grounding.

Can I do this if I have injuries or chronic tension?

Absolutely. Movements are adapted to your range and comfort. Many clients come with back pain, shoulder tension, or stress‑related tightness.
